Yahtzee!

Sometimes, to relax, I play solo Yahtzee.
To relax even more, I sketch it!

2010 Positano - Nocelle hike 6 - Villa Sofia

The entrance to a B&B, really liked the gate and the sign.
It's so much fun doing these now in the dead of winter, they take me back to those warm, sunny days!
Painted from my photos taken on our hike.

The 3 Brothers

This photo of 3 donkeys came with a picture holder. I intended to use my own  picture, but never got around to it.  One day my brother was over (I have 3 brothers), and noticed it, and asked me "Say, where did you find that picture of your 3 brothers?" Very funny!

2010 Positano - hike to Nocelle...more

These are more sketches done from my photos taken on our hike.
This first picture is looking down - In the sea, the shape on the left is 3 islands, called "Li Galli Islands", named Gallo Lungo, Rotomda and Castelletto. These islands are where Greek mythology would have you believe the three sirens tempted Ulysses on his way back home. The mass on the right is actually a large rock protruding from the sea known as "Whale Rock".

In this second picture, looking up, we were in the town directly above Positano. Montepertuso, which literally means "hole in the mountain". There is no official name for it, however legend says God was angry and put his fist through the mountain.

A fun thing to save!

This is part of a collection of wine (and champagne) corks over the last year or two. I didn't think I liked drawing details, but this was a lot of fun!

2010 Positano - hike to Nocelle

A ceramic tile map of our walk

A lovely view of the sea along the way.

Looking up - this might be a view of the "Walk of the Gods".

These sketches were done from photos after returning home.

2011 0107 Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial Church - JC, NY

This doesn't do the church justice! I really must go inside and try to draw some of the beautiful woodwork!
Johnson City, New York

2010 Positano

These are the sketches that were done on site.
They were done from the beach area, except the church was done from my balcony.

2011 0101 Amalfi ceramics

Finally! Two days before Christmas, my ceramics from Italy arrived. These were ordered during a trip in early October. They were well worth the wait, the craftsmanship is amazing!

2011 0101 Old Public Library - Binghamton, NY

This building is empty now, but it was the 'big' library while we were growing up. It has been designated a historic building.

These names are above the second floor windows.

2011 0101 Otsiningo Park, Binghamton, NY

A goal for 2011 is to sketch more, so I'm off to a good start!

2011 - First post!

An older sketch of mine...
"How does one become a butterfly?" She asked pensively.  "You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar."
