Hello, I must be going… (Does anyone remember that song? "I cannot stay I came to say I must be going…")
It's not goodbye, just a change of address!
I have finally updated my website to include my blog here: www.artbybernadette.com
I will no longer be posting here, but feel free to sign up (at the new place) for updates.
Oh, and don't worry, all of my posts here on blogger have moved over too!
Hope you stop in to the newly remodeled home!
Hugs,
Bernadette

The improbable?
Can it be? Snow in Positano? Yes! I was afraid I brought it with me from NY, but it does happen up on the mountains.
And THAT is why I'm here. The mountains behind feel protective, the people and the food fill you and keep you grounded with their simplicity, and my creative spirit awakens.

Much better!
Arrived yesterday to pouring rain! Luigi said he'd talk to "someone up there" about getting sun, and this is the view out my door first thing this morning!
Thank you Luigi!

Tripped up!
I wore my favorite long time hiking boots for a winter walk last week. The lace from the left got caught in a hook on the right, and
down I went! Not even enough time to get my hands out of my pockets,
so used my chin to break my fall.
Fortunately, it was very slushy out, which lessened a direct impact, but added to the amount of dirt and road salt going in my mouth and face.
I understand newer boots don't have these metal hooks anymore. Maybe it's replacement time?

Mom and Baby
My daughter and son-in-law are expecting - a baby girl! Here is a sketch done for the shower invite.
(Note: Sorry for the grey background on my recent images. Blogger seems to be doing this,
even when I change it to a white background. :( )

Blueberries
A dear friend recently gave me a gift of blueberries (frozen) that she and her daughter picked last summer.
They are a delicious topping on my oatmeal!!

A day at MIM (Musical Instrument Museum)
Back in early December, on a trip to Phoenix, we had the option to tour the MIM. Most everyone thought it would be boring (for nerds only!) so there were only three of us taking the tour. Our guide was an older gentleman who obviously loved his work. It was one of the best tours I've had, and the museum is amazing!
Musical instruments, costumes and accessories from all over the world, and from ancient times to modern hip-hop.
I had planned to relax and sketch, but the tour took up most of the allotted time. So I hurried and did several, adding color later, and taking photos of everything else that I had time for. (Didn't want to miss the bus!)
Here are my sketches from that day, a variety of things that caught my attention.
I wish I had a full day to enjoy all the displays! Definitely worth a visit if you're near there!

Reset!
Do you love New Years Day? The idea of starting fresh, putting 2013 behind you?
In 2013, maybe you didn't do your art every day or even every week?
Didn't finish that one piece still sitting in your studio?
Didn't organize your 'stuff' like you planned?
Didn't connect with friends and family like you'd hoped?
Have regrets?
Reset, reset, reset!
The fact that I sat around and watched non-stop Twilight Zone shows instead of
finishing this sketch means I could really use one of these buttons in real life!
Did Rod Serling ever write an episode about a drawing that comes to life?

Forgotten, but not gone!
Here are several sketches I completed in Italy earlier this year. They were forgotten in my post-trip blues! Or maybe because I was so busy riding my new scooter during the summer!
Anyway, I'm posting them together - there may be more, but they will be sketched from photos, which, as you may know, are not as much fun as sketching in person. Some of the "joie de vie" may be missing.
There is so much beauty in this tiny little corner of Italy - I'm sure I need to return as soon as possible!
Oh, I just noticed - the art quote for today is:
"Every picture shows a spot with which the artist has fallen in love. "-Alfred Sisley
How true is that for this post? Hmm?
