Last night I went out for dinner with some friends - they surprised me with a "going-away" gift bag (drawn here) for my upcoming travel adventure!
I am so lucky in life - and have the most awesome friends!!!!

August 29 - Sunday
What a beautiful day! Perfectly sunny - so went for a walk in the park, then to the phone store to make sure my phone will work in Europe, then out to breakfast where I ate eggs benedict until I was completely full, then ate some more. What can I say, everything was delicious!
So back home for a bit of r&r, then house work, and finally get down to some drawing.

Saturday August 28
Not a very successful drawing (I felt) of my dinner. But, I'm trying not to be too critical, so this is still getting posted. If I wait for drawing that I am happy with, I might post only once a year!
Friday Aug. 27
I didn't notice the cannon and the pile of cannonballs on the wine label until I started drawing it. What a unique idea for a wine name! And...it was very smooth. Yum!

One in a thousand
Tried a sketch from a photo taken while on vacation in the Thousand Islands.
Such a beautiful place to visit!

Aug 24
My daughter and son-in-law went to a lovely island in the Mediterranean, and he took some fantastic photos. This is hopefully, just a warm-up. Maybe can do more (and better quality ones!)
Arghhh
Much frustration- I have tried these caran-d'ache
crayons before with no luck. I had hoped they would be the solution to the moleskine page texture, but no. I will continue using a drop of liquid detergent in my clean water, as it helped some. The more I read, I think I need to make my own books, not a project I look forward to at this point!

Modified travel paints
My Winsor and Newton travel watercolor set, I took out their colors and replaced with my favorite colors. I can see how these work for travel.
What I see when I wake up....
A candleholder/sculpture of two hands, my favorite quote, an asian tealight holder and matching vase, and an ikea lamp. Well, it's only one dresser, I'll save the others for another day.

Organized Chaos plus new sketchbook
Wow- I love my new moleskine book!
No wonder I keep hearing so much about them!
I finished grouting my backsplash last night, and still had enough energy to draw something in one!
My tools still laying on the counter seemed appropriate.

Jewelry
This ring incorporates a stone from a ring that my mom used to wear, so it's sort of an updated heirloom!

Favorite object
I know I am a day or two late, but it was a busy weekend with a huge family reunion. So late last night, I tried to catch up. I listen to this soothing music to help me unwind before sleep.

Spuds mugs
I used to have a dog that was part Dalmatian, named 'Spuds'.
He is still missed, these mugs remind me of him.

Day 1 of my blog! Shoes
This is exciting- I plan on creating a sketch-a-day in August. It will help me practice for an upcoming trip to Europe, where I would like to journal my travels using art and text.
So here is my sketch for Day 1.
